Who made the first move?

Corey did four years ago, but I came running back three years later to make the first move with the hope of getting a second chance!

What first attracted you to each other?

Katie: When we were texting before we met, I was attracted to how family-oriented he was and his values. However I will never forget when we finally met in person because the first thing he did was pull out these salmon dog treats and he knelt down and gave some to Kobe. I completely melted in that moment. His cute smirk also gets me every time.

Corey: She had this cute laugh that would come out randomly, her big smile, and her hazel eyes. She had this positive personality, was thoughtful, understanding, and caring. Add Kobe to the picture, and that sealed the deal!

What is your favorite memory with each other?

Katie: My favorite memory is the Hamel Rodeo. It was probably our fifth or sixth date and we went to dinner at Brick and Bourbon in Maple Grove. That night we had these amazing conversations about our values and our goals for the future and we connected on such a deeper level that I went home and wrote in my journal that "I am going to marry this man."

Corey: Our Duluth trip with Kobe when we got to spend a full weekend together away from our typical lives. The trip created so many fun memories, and gave us a chance to fully submerge ourselves into the relationship, strengthening our connection.

What is your favorite way of spending time together?

Katie: For me it is all of the little things! I have always been a Target girl, and this man changed me into a Walmart on Friday nights kind of girl. I used to love going out to dinner at restaurants, but now I would much rather stay in and cook or grill with him because we just have so much fun joking around and laughing with each other. 

Corey: I really enjoy our road trips in the truck filled with deep conversations, long walks around the lake with the dog, movie nights, and our Friday night Walmart runs. We learned to enjoy the little things in life and just be content with each others company. 

How did you get engaged?

Corey made plans to celebrate our one year anniversary by walking down to the dock where we had our first date! We had gone on a walk with Kobe around Lone Lake and Corey wanted us to relive that date a year later. What I didn't know was that Corey had invited both of our families to hide and surprise me once he popped the question! He even got an amazing photographer :) After I said yes, Corey brought everyone back to his apartment party room where we all had dinner together to celebrate! 

Why did you decide on a destination wedding?

We both love the beach and wanted our wedding to be more of an experience with the people we love most! This felt more personal to us and an exciting way to kickoff the rest of our lives together.
